Ahmed Ramadan, known as Beckham, joined Al Ahly from Wadi Degla and he is back to his childhood club on a five-year contract.

The player expressed his happiness after joining the Red Eagles and said that it was his dream since he left the club.

We took the opportunity to sit down with Beckham to discuss his dreams with Al Ahly and his feelings after re-joining the club.

"Al Ahly is my home and I am a die-hard fan since I was eight. I left the club two years ago and my dream was to come back and I am happy that I fulfilled this dream."

"I fought to come back to Al Ahly. It was not an easy mission as I did my best to prove myself and come back to the club. Re-joining Al Ahly was a dream for me and my family."

"I left the club two years ago on a loan as I wanted to earn more playing time, but when the deal became permanent with Wadi Degla, I was doing my best to prove that I deserve to return back to the Club of the Century."

"I had many offers and Wadi Degla wanted me to stay, but when Al Ahly knocks the door, you have to leave everything behind and accept the offer. I adore the club and it is very hard for me to play football away from the club that I love."

"The negotiations started 10 months ago during the winter transfers. I received a call from Amir Tawfik who informed me that the club needs my services".

"At that time, Al Ahly had only one place to sign a new player and the signing of Aliou Badji was done, so Tawfik called me again and told me that the negotiations will be postponed until the end of the season."

"Every time I played well away from Al Ahly, I felt that I was close to come back again, but my dream was finally achieved when Tawfik called me to confirm that Al Ahly wants to sign me."

"I was overwhelmed by his call, as my feeling that I will return to my childhood club is hard to be described in words. I fought for this dream and I am glad that I succeeded to achieve it".

"I have a good relationship with many of Al Ahly's players such as Mohamed El Shenawy, Nasser Maher, Saad Samir, Ayman Ashraf, Taher Mohamed Taher, Mohamed Mahmoud and many others."

"Our captain El Shenawy advised me to do my best and to take the full responsibility after returning back to the team to earn a starting position and to be one of the main players in the Red Eagles’ starting line-up."

"I have a good relationship with Mohamed Mahmoud and I wish him a speedy recovery. He is a great player and added more power to the team. It was a difficult period for him after suffering multiple injuries, but I am sure that he will come back stronger to help the team with his great talent."

"The competition between the players at Al Ahly is very hard, as the team has a lot of superstars in all the positions, which makes us exert more efforts in order to gain the coaching staff's trust."

“I can play in more than one position such as a right back, center back or even as a defensive central midfielder. Also, I don’t mind playing in any new position if that means I’ll help the team. I am looking forward to gain coach Pitso Mosimane’s trust and help the team achieve many victories.”

“I still didn’t decide yet which number I’ll be wearing. However, I like number 17 which captain Amr El Soulia currently wears with the team.”

“Everyone in my family supports Al Ahly and they all wanted me to return back to the club. I take the advice of my parents and wife in every step. They played an important role to be where I am today.”

“Since the start of the negotiations, which was around 10 months ago, I preferred not to tell my family and make it as a surprise for them that I’ll be coming back to Al Ahly. However, news reports came out and revealed everything and it was only then that I told them that I am close to join Al Ahly once again.”

“No matter what I say, I won’t be able to describe how happy my family are that I’ll be wearing Al Ahy’s jersey once again.”

“Hopefully, Al Ahly will win the final on Friday. The team has a lot of incentives which makes them close to winning the competition.”

“Al Ahly has a great experience in the CAF Champions League finals. I believe that our team’s personality will be the secret behind us being crowned as champions of the tournament.”

“I hope that Al Ahly wins the tournament in order to participate in the Club World Cup Championship. It is a dream that I wish to achieve.”

“I participated in a lot of games in the last period. However, I returned back to Al Ahly in order to win trophies with the team.  I believe that this goal won’t be achieved unless we are committed and work hard as a team.”

“All of these are factors I wish to achieve and hope that God helps me to gain the trust of our coaching staff, club’s representatives and our fans.”

“I wished to be part of Al Ahly's team in 2006 when we won the CAF Champions League after defeating CS Sfaxien 1-0 in the famous match which led Al Ahly to play in the Club World Championship. However, I feel that we are now very close to winning the tournament on Friday.”

“I promise our fans that I’ll fight in order to win all the trophies with Al Ahly and make them happy. Lastly, I’ll be waiting for their support in my new journey which will start again with the African Club of the Century.”
