Match Report: Al Ahly 0-0 Wadi Degla

Al Ahly drew with Wadi Degla SC 0-0 today at Al Ahly Stadium in the fifth fixture of the Egyptian Premier League at Al Ahly Stadium.

We started the match by pressing high in order to score the opening goal in the game. Our first attempt was when El Shahat passed the ball to Soliman, who shot the ball off target.

In the 5th minute, Wadi Degla’s player Amir Adel crossed the ball; however, El Shenawy was able to catch the ball before the opponent’s striker.

Wadi Degla continued their attack by Yakubu’s cross from the left side, which passed by without any serious threat on El Shenawy.

In the 15th minute, our attacking player Sherif received the ball inside the opponent’s penalty area but failed to score.

After four minutes, El Shenawy was needed once again to save a strong shot from the opponent’s attacking player Diego Calderón.

In the 23rd minute, Soliman made a great pass to Salah Mohsen whose shot was few inches off the bar.

In the 36th minute, Salah Mohsen received the ball once again near the opponent’s penalty area yet he still failed to give us the lead, as his shot missed the target.

With less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half, both teams had several attempts on target yet failed to change the score.

Our midfielder Dieng had his first shot in the game but it was blocked accidentally by Sherif.

In the 40th minute, the match was stopped after our player Salah Mohsen fell on the pitch after suffering an injury.

After four minutes, Salah Mohsen missed a crucial chance to score after heading the ball over the bar.

The final minutes of the first half passed by without any serious attempt from both teams and the referee blew his half time whistle.

Al Ahly entered the second half with a high pressure in order to have the lead, but the team was faced with Wadi Degla’s solid defense.

The first goal-scoring opportunity came in the 55th minute when Maaloul’s shot was saved by Wadi Degla’s goalkeeper Mohamed Abdel Monsef.

In the 61st minute, Hussein El Shahat’s shot was blocked by Wadi Degla’s defense.

After three minutes, Salah Mohsen missed another goal-scoring chance which was once again saved by Abdel Monsef.

A few minutes later, we had a crucial foul in front of Wadi Degla’s penalty area after the opponent’s defender tackled El Shahat. However, Maaloul’s shot hit Wadi Degla’s wall.

After the foul, Wadi Degla’s player Jorginho had a serious chance to score the first goal, but his shot went over the bar.

Al Ahly’s first substitution came in the 72nd minute when Ahmed Rayan entered instead of Soliman.

With less than 20 minutes remaining, our defender Benoun had a serious chance to score after heading the ball on target, yet Abdel Monsef made another important save.

In the 76th minute, Maaloul ‘s shot was blocked by Abdel Monsef, with Al Ahly looking to score the opening goal before the end of the match.

Our manager Pitso Mosimane made another substitution with Mohamed Shoukry replacing Salah Mohsen, aiming to score the winning goal.

However, the final minutes of the game passed by with both teams failing to score before the referee blew his final whistle of the game.

With that result, the Red Eagles currently sit in second place having a total of ten points from four matches.
