El Shenawy : We Never Doubted Our Ability To Win Third Place

Al Ahly’s goalkeeper and captain, Mohamed El Shenawy reflected on Al Ahly’s achievement after winning the bronze medal in the FIFA Club World Cup.

El Shenawy stated that the team deserved to win the bronze medal, especially after the brilliant performance of all the players throughout the whole tournament.

“I would like to thank my teammates and the coaching staff for all their efforts during the past period. Our players were determined to defeat Brazil’s Palmeiras in order to win the bronze medal. We never doubted our abilities to win third place.”

“We had a clear objective before traveling to participate in the tournament.  Moreover, we promised our fans that we will be winning a medal in the FIFA Club World Cup and that is what we managed to achieve.”

“I talked with all the players when we were heading to the bronze medal game and I told them that we have to win in order to please our fans.”

“We will now start focusing on our upcoming matches, as we aim to win the 10th CAF Champions League title in the history of the club and return back to the FIFA Club World Cup next year.”
