The 2021-2022 CAF Champions League group stage draw was held on Tuesday at the CAF headquarters in Cairo. 

Al Ahly were drawn with Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Hilal, and Al Merrikh in Group A.

We are set to defend our African title by having some strong encounters in the group stage, so let’s recall our previous records against our opponents.

Al Ahly vs Mamelodi Sundowns

We faced South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns on 10 occasions. 

We came out victorious in five games, while we lost one match, and drew four times. 

We visited their net 15 times, while they managed to score 10 goals in our net.

Al Ahly vs Al Hilal

The Red Eagles played against Sudan’s Al Hilal in eight matches. 

We managed to win three games, and we lost two matches, while we both were held to a draw on three occasions. 

Our players managed to score seven goals, and we conceded six goals.

Al Ahly vs Al Merrikh 

Al Ahly met Sudan’s Al Merrikh on eight occasions. We faced them six times in the CAF Champions League, and twice in the African Cup Winners' Cup. 

The Red Eagles defeated the Sudanese team five times, while we lost one game and were held to two draws.

We scored 16 goals against them, while our net conceded seven.
