Ashraf: We Have High Ambitions to win the CAF Champions League
Ayman Ashraf, Al Ahly’s football first-team defender, spoke on Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s game against Mamelodi Sundowns in the fourth fixture of the CAF Champions League group stage.
In an exclusive interview with us, Ashraf talked about the importance of the team’s victory against Pyramids F.C. in the league and gave his opinion on Saturday’s game against Sundowns.
“We expect Saturday’s game to be a tough one, as we just played against Pyramids in the league and due to the fact that we will be playing away from home in different circumstances.”
“However, we always want to win regardless of the circumstances we face. I have full confidence in the team and I believe that we have what it takes to achieve a positive result against Sundowns.”
“We have high ambitions to win this season’s competition and qualify once again to the FIFA Club World Cup.”
“As for the communication with my teammates on the pitch, I believe that it is very beneficial for the whole team. For example, Mohamed El Shenawy, the team’s captain and goalkeeper, talks with us during the whole game to keep us attentive and gives us instructions as he has a better view on the pitch than us.”
Ashraf concluded his interview by congratulating Pitso Mosimane, the team’s head coach, on renewing his contract with the club and thanked the fans for their constant support to the team.
