Al Ahly Defeat El Mahalla 2-1 in the Egyptian Premier League

Al Ahly sealed an important 2-1 victory tonight over Ghazl El Mahalla at Al Ahly WE Al Salam Stadium in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday.

Mohamed Magdy Afsha broke the deadlock in the 12th minute, but Himid Mao managed to equalize the score for his team, El Mahalla.

In the last ten minutes of the game, Mohamed Sherif managed to gift us the victory, thanks to his clinical finish and the marvelous assist from our homegrown player, Ziad Tarek.

First Half:   

The game started with our players controlling the game’s tempo, as we were searching to score the opener.

We kept pushing forward to break the deadlock, and after several attempts, we were awarded a penalty due to a late challenge against Mohamed Sherif inside the box.

In the 12th minute, Mohamed Magdy Afsha stood behind the ball and converted the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

In the 17th minute, we had a clear scoring chance as Amr El Soulia sent a sensational pass to Percy Tau, but our forward’s efforts, unfortunately, hit the woodwork.

In the 34th minute, Mohamed El Shenawy was needed as he saved a dangerous shot from the opponent’s player to keep his net clean.

Five minutes later, Taher Mohamed Taher was forced to leave the field after picking up an injury, and Salah Mohsen joined the game.

The visitors tried to equalize the score, but our defenders managed to block all their attempts and the first half ended with a 1-0 lead for the Red Eagles.

Second Half:

The second half started with our players pushing forward to double the score, but Ghazl EL Mahalla defenders blocked our attempts.

In the 49th minute, Salah Mohsen sprinted on the left flank and blasted a staggering shot, but his efforts hit the bar and went to a goal kick.

We kept our pressure and Amr El Soulia fired a screamer from the outside of the box, but the goalkeeper was in the right place to save his net and deflected the ball towards a corner kick.

In the 55th minute, Karim Received the ball on the right flank and sent a good cross inside the box, however, El Soulia’s header missed the net and went over the bar.

Against the match's flow, Himid Mao managed to equalize the score in the 57th minute.

The Red Eagles upped their pressure to double the score, but our opponents stood their ground and managed to block our attempts.

We had a scoring chance, as Ramy Rabia blasted a strong shot, but his efforts were blocked by the keeper and went to a corner kick.

Sami Komsan used his bench in the 73rd minute, as Hossam Hassan and Walid Soliman joined the match instead of Mahmoud Wahid and Percy Tau.

Moreover, Ziad Tarek entered the pitch instead of Ahmed Nabil “Koka” as Samy Komsan was keen to add more attacking power.

Ziad Tarek only needed three minutes to announce his arrival, as he sent a sensational through pass inside the box. With a clinical finish, Sherif converted the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-1 for the Red Eagles.

In the 95th minute, the referee showed a straight red card to El Mahalla’s Ahmed El Sheikh as a result of a rough challenge against Karim Fouad.

The final minutes went by and the referee blew his final whistle to declare a 2-1 victory at home.
