Big win over Medeama SC

Alahly, CAF Champions League, Football

The Red Eagles secured their first three points in the Champions League group stage on Saturday night with a big 3-0 win over Medeama of Ghana at Al Salam Stadium.

Al Ahly players put on a great show and had the upper hand in the game despite their struggle to find the back of the net for 65 minutes.

Mahmoud Kahraba, our top scorer in the competition last season, broke the deadlock with a clinical header as he received a beautiful cross from Emam Ashour, who had a great match and was voted by our fans as Man Of The Match.

Ten minutes later, Kahraba had the chance to double the score but his shot was saved by the visitors' goalkeeper but Hussein El Shahat capitalized on the rebound to put the ball in the back of the net.

This goal marked El Shahat's 18th goal for the Red Eagles in the Champions League, making him our fifth all-time top scorer in the competition.

Salah Mohsen, who joined the game from the bench, completed the night with a beautiful goal after receiving a fantastic cross from Mohamed Magdy Afsha.

Marcel Koller's men achieved their first win in the group stage and sent a clear message that we are ready to defend our beloved Champions League title.
