Al Ahly SC men's basketball team clinched the Egyptian Basketball Super League title with a 77-76 victory over Al Ittihad Alexandria basketball team in the fourth game of their best-of-five finals series on Friday.
Played at Hassan Mostafa Sports Hall, the win gave Al Ahly an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series and sealed the championship.
Al Ahly trailed 18-15 after the first quarter before rallying to take a 39-35 lead into halftime.
Al Ittihad responded in the third quarter to move ahead 65-58, but Al Ahly edged a tense final period to secure the one-point victory and the title.
Al Ahly opened the series with a 68-66 win and followed it with a 79-72 victory in game two before Al Ittihad reduced the deficit with a 90-80 win in game three.
Friday’s triumph completed the series win for Al Ahly.
