Al Ahly open Egyptian League campaign with victory over Al Sharqiya Enppi

Al Ahly senior football team have opened their Egyptian Premier League campaign with a 3-2 win over Al Sharqiya Enppi at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.

Al Sharqiya Enppi took an early lead through Ali Ihab in the 17th minute, before Mohamed Essam doubled the petroleum side’s advantage in the 24th minute.

Al Ahly dominated possession as they looked to mount a comeback and snatch victory.

The Red Eagles pulled one back through a powerful strike from Marwan Attia 10 minutes before halftime.

Ahmed Sayed Zizo leveled the score in the 69th minute from the penalty spot, before substitute Mohamed Magdi ‘Afsha’ secured the victory for Al Ahly in the 90th minute.

Al Ahly coach Hussien Ammouta started the game with Mounsef Bakrar, Ahmed Sayed Zizo and Achraf Bencharki up front, and the Red Eagles created several scoring chances.

In the second half, Ammouta called on Soufiane Benjdida, Hussein El-Shahat and Mohamed Afsha, and the substitutes made an immediate impact as Al Ahly completed their comeback.

Al Ahly’s next fixture will be against ZED FC in the second matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Friday.
