Al Ahly Reach CAF Champions League Group Stage for the 18th Time

Al Ahly managed to reach the CAF Champions League group stage for the 18th time in our history. 

Al Ahly reached the group stage after defeating Niger's AS SONIDEP 5-0 on aggregate in the CAF Champions League round of 32.

Securing our place in the group stage is the first step in our journey to defend our title, which we won for a record 9 times. 

The Red Eagles previously secured a place in the group stage for 17 times since the Confederation of African Football (CAF) introduced the group stage in 1997. 

Al Ahly managed to advance from the group stage on 12 occasions and went on to win the title on 7 occasions in 2001, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2020. 

CAF introduced the group stage from the quarter-finals between 1997 and 2017 and since then the group stage starts from the round of 16.
