Al Ahly Send an Official Letter to CAF Objecting Vita Club’s Decision to Allow Fans in Our Upcoming Game

Al Ahly sent an official letter to the Confederation of African Football, CAF, against the decision of DR Congo’s AS Vita Club to allow their fans to attend the match between AS Vita Club and Al Ahly in Matchday 4 of the CAF Champions League group stage, as such act doesn’t provide equal chances for all the participating teams in the competition.

The club’s letter to the CAF comes in time with the statements of several CAF officials that all the 2021 CAF Champions League matches will be held behind closed doors in order to provide justice for all the participating teams.

Also, during our game against Tanzania’s Simba SC which took place on 23/2/2021, we were surprised that at least 25,000 fans attended the game.

However, we were denied the right of allowing Al Ahly fans to attend any of our home games, which took place on 16/2/2021 against Sudan’s Al Merrikh SC and on 6/3/2021 against DR Congo’s AS Vita Club.

Moreover, AS Vita Club’s head coach stated that our upcoming game against them will be held at 2:00 PM (Local Time), at a temperature that might surpass 33°C and that the match will be played on an artificial turf, in order to make it more difficult on our players who are not accustomed to playing in such circumstances.

According to AS Vita Club’s head coach, their decision to play the match in such difficult circumstances was taken as a response to facing Al Ahly in Cairo at 9:00 PM in cold weather.

Additionally, CAF is totally aware that the timing of all our home games, including our last game against AS Vita Club, was previously decided by your side.

Finally, Al Ahly urged the CAF to preserve the club rights in our upcoming match against AS Vita Club.
