Davis: Al Ahly deserve World Championship bronze after outstanding performances

Al Ahly head coach David Davis expressed his delight at leading the team to the bronze medal at the IHF Men’s Club World Championship, the “Super Globe,” after defeating Zamalek on Thursday.

He said the team had worked hard throughout the tournament and deserved the achievement.

Davis said the third-place playoff against Zamalek was a difficult encounter, given the intense rivalry between the two teams and the strong support they receive from their fans.

However, he added that Al Ahly’s experience and the players’ confidence in their abilities helped them secure the victory.

Davis highlighted Al Ahly’s strong performances throughout the tournament, particularly their victory over German side Füchse Berlin, the European runners-up, which saw them finish second in their group.

He also pointed to their hard-fought derby win over Zamalek and the subsequent bronze-medal triumph.

The Spanish coach said winning the Club World Championship bronze medal for the second time in the club’s history was a major international achievement that adds to Al Ahly’s long list of domestic and continental titles.

He also said he was personally delighted to have contributed to the accomplishment.

Al Ahly previously won the Club World Championship bronze medal in 2024 after defeating Spanish giants Barcelona, while they claimed the silver medal in the 2007 edition.
