El Shenawy: We Know the Importance of this Game

Mohamed El Shenawy, Al Ahly’s goalkeeper and captain, weighed in on Al Ahly’s upcoming encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

“This is our third time here and we know the importance of this game. Hopefully, we qualify for the semis like we did last year.”

“Big players have a role in such a decisive phase. Thankfully, in the last match in Cairo we did a great job. However, we know that this match won’t be easy for us. “

“Coach Mosimane has been with us for 8 months. When we used to play against Sundowns we were fully aware of his abilities. We are happy to train with him; he is very close to us. He knows the system inside the club and he has the final decision.”

El Shenawy added that are differences between the last three encounters when Al Ahly faced Sundowns in the competition; as there are several new players who joined Sundowns.

Lastly, El Shenawy concluded by stating that the players are determined to win the tenth CAF Champions League title and make history here at the club.
