Facing Zamalek In Africa Is Always A Good Omen 

Al Ahly managed to win the CAF Champions League competition for the ninth team in the history of our club after defeating Zamalek 2-1 in the final on Friday night.

After defeating Zamalek today, it became clear that facing our rivals in the CAF Champions League is a good omen for Al Ahly to win the competition; especially after wining the tournament 5 times after facing them in the following occasions:

2005: Al Ahly defeated Zamalek in the semi-finals and were crowned champions of the tournament after defeating Etoile du Sahel in the final.

2008: Al Ahly met Zamalek in the group stage and went on to win the tournament after defeating Coton Sport FC in the final.

2012: The two teams met again in the group stages and our players managed to advance and defeat Esperance Sportive in the final.

2013: Once again both teams faced each other in the group stages and Al Ahly was able to go all the way to the final and win the tournament against Orlando Pirates F.C.

Lastly, Al Ahly won the ninth trophy in the history of the club after defeating Zamalek in the final 2-1.
