Al Ahly men’s handball first team suffered a 31-23 defeat to Hungarian side Veszprém in their opening match of the 2026 IHF Men’s Club World Championship, which is being held from 24 September to 1 October.
Al Ahly put in a strong performance in a fiercely contested encounter, with the two sides battling closely before Veszprém eventually secured the victory.
Al Ahly are in Group B alongside Veszprém, German club Füchse Berlin, and Kuwait’s Burgan.
