A Goalless Draw at 30 June Stadium

Al Ahly were held to a 0-0 draw tonight against Pyramids FC in the 10th fixture of the Egyptian Premier League. The Red Eagles had some good possession and made real chances to open the score, but we did not manage to score any of them. Our players Amr El Soulia and Hussien El Shahaat led our first scoring chances, as they tried to shot from the range, but the shots went away of the net. In the 8th minute, Mohamed Hany was forced to leave due to a muscle injury and Ahmed Beckham joined instead of him.

Al Ahly dominated the ball, but Pyramids FC stood their ground and succeeded to block our attempts. Pyramids FC tried their best to score from some dead balls, but they could not reach our net, thanks to our solid defense. In the 35th minute, El Shahaat delivered a pass to Sherif, but the linesman raised his flag for an offside on Sherif. Shortly after, Maaloul impressively dribbled two of Pyramids’ players, but his long pass went away to a goal kick. 

The second half started and we were streaming forward to score the opener. In the 52nd minute, El Shahaat got a yellow card after playing the ball with his hand and the goalless draw went on. Our defender Ayman Ashraf maintained his impressive performance and intercepted a dangerous ball in the 59th minute in a one VS one situation. The Red Eagles then led a quick counter-attack, but the opponent’s defense cleared the ball. 

In the 69th minute, Mosimane used his bench and both Kahraba and Bwalya joined the game instead of Sherif and El Shahaat. Our most dangerous chance came for Bwalya, who delivered a ground cross to Kahraba, but it was skimmed wide by Pyramids’ defender. With 20 minutes to go, we kept our pressure to score the opener, but all our attempts were foiled by Pyramids’ defenders. In the 77th minute, Bwalya scored a goal, but it was disallowed by the referee. 

Our players kept the pressure to score the opener, as Kahraba tested the opponent’s goalkeeper with an effort from the range, but the ball went away. In the 84th minute, Bwalya was about to score the opener, but Pyramids’ goalkeeper deflected the ball out for a corner. Dieng joined the game instead of Taher in the 85th minute, and the Red Eagles kept their pressure to score the opener.

 Pyramids FC were about to score in the additional time, as Donga shot the ball from the range, but El Shenawy blocked it away and kept our net clear. The referee then blew his final whistle to declare a goalless draw.
