Mosimane Has the Upper Hand Against Zamalek

Our head coach Pitso Mosimane achieved his second CAF Champions League title against the same opponent, Zamalek SC.

Our head coach prevented Zamalek from winning the title on two occasions.

The first title came in 2016 when Mosimane celebrated the victory with Mamelodi Sundowns FC in Alexandria while he guided us to the title on Friday night at Cairo international stadium.

Drama has been present in both Mosimane’s titles as in 2016 his team was knocked out of the competition against Congolese side, AS Vita Club.  However, Sundowns took the Congolese team’s place in the group stage after CAF decided to eliminate AS Vita Club for fielding an ineligible player.

Sundowns went all the way to win their first title in history after defeating Zamalek in the final.

This season, Mosimane was eliminated from the competition in the quarter-finals after Mamelodi Sundowns lost to Al Ahly.

Afterwards, Mosimane was appointed in charge of Al Ahly’s first team in October while we were preparing for the semi-finals.

The South African manager guided us to the title after defeating Wydad Casablanca in the semi-finals and Zamalek in the final.
