Al Ahly’s head coach Pitso Mosimane featured in the pre-match press conference ahead of our match against Sudan’s Al Merrikh SC in the CAF Champions League group stage.

Mosimane spoke about the difficulty of the game against Al Merrikh SC, especially as the team will miss many starters due to them being injured.

“We are back from participating in the FIFA Club World Cup. It was a heavy tournament and we played many games in a short period of time. However, we learned a lot from participating in it.”

“It is always tough to play against Sudanese teams. We have the advantage of playing the opening match of the group at home, but we will face a tough team.”

“They are a physical side and they had the time to prepare well for the match and all their players are ready for the game. However, we are entering the match after participating in the FIFA Club World Cup and we have many starters who will miss the game for injury.”

“This edition includes many big teams and the level of competitiveness will be tough as usual.”

“We will miss many key players, but we are used to this situation as we have missed many players before due to being injured or due to COVID-19. I trust my players’ ability to overcome the absences and achieve a positive result.”

“We do not have problems playing at any stadium, but it is always great to play at Cairo International Stadium. It does not host a lot of games, which makes the pitch in a perfect condition.”

“We focused on our participation in the FIFA Club World Cup in the past period ,but now we are focusing on the upcoming challenges and we will deal with every game separately.”
