Salah, Sherif Lead Al Ahly to Precious Win Over Ismaily SC

Al Ahly managed to defeat Ismaily SC 2-0 tonight in a postponed game from week 12 of the Egyptian Premier League at Borg El Arab Stadium. 

The first half ended in a goalless draw as it did not witness any dangerous scoring chances from both teams. 

In the second half, our Moroccan defender Badr Benoun opened the score from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute. 

The Red Eagles maintained their dominance in the game and in the 88th minute, our striker Salah Mohsen doubled the score after a fantastic effort to secure Al Ahly's victory. 

After today’s victory, Al Ahly are in second place with 27 points while Ismaily SC stayed in the 16th position. 

Goalless Draw:


Al Ahly started the game with front-line pressure, as we were keen to score the opener and take an early lead. 

In the 11th minute, Ismaily had a scoring chance as Shoukry Nagiub’s header went away from our net.

The minutes went on without any dangerous scoring chances, but in the 30th minute the game’s referee Ibrahim Nour El Din checked the VAR for a possible penalty for Ismaily, but he decided that it was not valid. 

Second half: 

The second half kicked off and our coach Pitso Mosimane used his bench, as Marwan Mohsen joined the game instead of Hussien El Shahat. 

The Red Eagles upped the pressure and in the 55th minute, Ismaily’s defender received a yellow card after a late challenge against Mohamed Sherif.

Also, Mohamed Magdy Afsha’s free-kick was blocked by Ismaily’s goalkeeper as he swept the ball away from his net before saving his net again as he blocked Aliou Dieng’s effort from the range.

The minutes ticked by and in the 72nd minute, the referee gave us a penalty as a result of Ismaily’s keeper late challenge against Mohamed Sherif. 

Our Moroccan defender Badr Benoun scored the opener, to open his tally with the Red Eagles in the league.

Al Ahly continued to push forward in order to secure the result. In the 84th minute, Ramy Rabia joined the game instead of Afsha while Salah Mohsen replaced Mohamed Sherif. 

Salah Mohsen needed only four minutes to announce his arrival, as he managed to bag an impressive goal in the 88th minute. 

Marwan Mohsen sent the ball to Salah, who did a sprint that started just inside our own half and ended with the ball in the back of the net after a clinical finish.

Mosimane made another substitution as Akram Tawfik joined the game instead of Junior Ajayi.

The Red Eagles dominated the remaining minutes and tried to score the third goal, but their attempts were blocked by Ismaily’s defense. 

The referee blew his whistle to announce a 2-0 victory for the Red Eagles.
