Al Ahly Move Top with Big Win over Pyramids

The Red Eagles secured an emphatic 3-0 win over pyramids at Al Ahly Stadium on Tuesday night in the Egyptian Premier League.

We moved back to the top of the table with 28 points from 10 matches, two points above Pyramids, who have played one game more.

The Reds achieved the big victory thanks to three goals in the second half from Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Amr El Soulia and Mohamed Sherif.

First Half

We had a good start to the game with our players pushing forward for the opener in the first ten minutes of the game but our players lacked the final touch.

The first 45 minutes of the game did not witness several goal-scoring chances from both sides.

Our most dangerous play came around the 26th minute as Mohamed Hany sent a long pass to Sherif, but our striker failed to control the ball.

The minutes went by with the two teams trying to put the ball rolling in the midfield to keep the possession.

The first half ended in a goalless draw and it was clear that the first half was just the calm before the storm.

Second Half
We could not wish for a better start to the second half as we broke the deadlock only two minutes after the break.

Pyramids were trying to build from behind with passes between the defenders but our players pressed high on the pitch to cut the ball. The aggressiveness of our players forced Pyramids’ playmaker, Abdullah El Said, to make a mistake as his pass reached Afsha. Afsha dribbled Ali Gabr, Pyramids defender, and Sherif Ekramy, Pyramids goalkeeper, and put the ball in the back of the empty net.

Mosimane used his bench as Amr El Soulia was introduced to replace Ahmed Abdelkader as our coach was aiming to boost our power in midfield.

Ten minutes later, we made another two substitutions as Hussein El Shahat and Ayman Ashraf replaced Percy Tau and Hamdy Fathy.

Mohamed El Shenawy was needed to make several crucial saves as the opponents were pushing to equalize the score.

We were close to adding the second goal as El Shahat received a beautiful cross from Ali Maaloul but his effort was saved then the ball went to a corner kick.

Around the 82nd minute, our last substitutions in the game were made as Luis Miquissone and Karim Fouad came on for Afsha and Mohamed Hany.

Luis was about to make a quick impact in the game as he fired a shot but the ball went wide of the post.

We needed only two minutes to double the score with a stunning shot from El Soulia, who was ready to fire a first-time strike that found the top corner.

Sherif finished the game in a style as he scored the third goal with a fantastic follow-up to secure a huge win for the Red Eagles.
