Ahmed Salah Named FIVB player of the week

The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) named our volleyball Megastar Ahmed Salah Abdelhay as Player of the Week and highlighted his career achievements with Al Ahly and Egypt national team.

FIVB official website published a report about our volleyball star, noting that he deserved to be recognized as the top player of the last two decades in Egypt and Africa.

The report praised the player’s loyalty to his nation and his childhood club, Al Ahly, saying that “he's been sought after by clubs across the world; but the stalwart opposite Ahmed 'Salah' Abdelhay has remained true to his home country of Egypt and the club of his roots Al Ahly of Cairo.”

The report added that the 36-year-old had short spells abroad with Russia's Dynamo Yanter of Kaliningrad, Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal of Riyadh, Turkey's Halkbank Ankara, and Galatasaray Istanbul.

The report also mentioned Salah’s achievements on the club level as he has won seven African Club Championship titles (six of those with Al Ahly) plus five Arab Club Championship gold medals.

On the international level, Salah, who started his career with Egypt national team in 2003, won six consecutive gold medals at the African Championships between 2005 and 2015.

The left-handed opposite also won the best attacker at the 2011 FIVB World Cup as well as winning the top scorer award at the 2015 FIVB World Cup with 230 points.
