Al Ahly’s board of directors, headed by Captain Mahmoud El Khatib, has decided to hold a special ceremony in honour of Zain Hesham Akram, the club’s swimmer and a member of Egypt’s national youth team, following his historic achievement at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, where he claimed three gold medals.
The board has scheduled the ceremony for next Friday to celebrate Hesham’s unprecedented accomplishment, which made him the first Egyptian and African swimmer to win three gold medals in the history of the Youth Olympic Games.
The honour reflects Al Ahly’s continued commitment to supporting its athletes across various sporting disciplines and recognising their achievements in bringing distinction to both the club and Egypt on the international stage.
Hesham won gold in the 50m butterfly, clocking 24.06 seconds; the 100m butterfly, in 52.16 seconds; and the 200m butterfly, with a time of 1:57.88.
