El Khatib: Al Ahly handball teams make Egypt proud

Al Ahly president Mahmoud El Khatib said the ceremony honoring the club’s men’s and women’s handball teams sends a clear message to future generations of players to work hard, win titles and earn their place on the podium.

El Khatib expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Hassan Moustafa, president of the International Handball Federation (IHF), for attending Thursday evening’s ceremony in the presence of the club’s board of directors.

He also thanked Khaled Fathy, president of the Egyptian Handball Federation, for attending the event. He stressed that the achievements of Al Ahly’s men’s and women’s handball teams are a source of pride for Egyptian sport as a whole, not just the club, as they have added a new chapter to its history.

Al Ahly president singled out the women’s team for its remarkable achievement in reclaiming the continental title after a 47-year absence, reviving the glory of the generation that won the club’s first African championship.

He also praised the men’s team for making history by winning the African title four consecutive times and claiming the bronze medal at the IHF Men’s Club World Championship.

El Khatib emphasised that the achievements brought greater responsibility for everyone to continue giving their best and working tirelessly to secure more titles and ensure Al Ahly maintains the standing it deserves.

He concluded with a message that everyone who wears the Al Ahly shirt must remain deeply loyal to the club, before presenting both teams with the club’s commemorative medallion in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
