Al Ahly aim to extend Egyptian Super Cup title record against Zamalek

Al Ahly’s first football team are aiming to extend their record of Egyptian Super Cup wins when they face rivals Zamalek in Sunday’s final at Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 5:30 p.m. Cairo time (GMT+2).

Al Ahly currently hold the record for the most Super Cup titles with 15, while Zamalek have won the trophy four times. Arab Contractors, Haras El Hodoud, and Talae El Geish have each claimed the title once.

The Red Eagles secured their place in the final with a 2-1 victory over Ceramica Cleopatra in the semifinals on Wednesday, while Zamalek advanced after a penalty shootout win over Pyramids FC.

In previous Super Cup encounters between the two sides, Al Ahly have dominated, winning four of their nine meetings, with the remaining five ending in draws and went to penalty shootouts to decide the winner.
