Al Ahly cruise past El Sekka El Hadid to book Egypt Cup last-16 spot
Al Ahly booked their place in the Round of 16 of the Egypt Cup after securing a comfortable 3-0 victory over El Sekka El Hadid in the Round of 32 at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday.
The Red Eagles delivered an impressive performance, dominating possession and controlling the match from the opening whistle.
Al Ahly created several clear-cut chances that could have extended their winning margin.
Ahmed Sayed Zizo opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a powerful strike before doubling Al Ahly's lead with another long-range effort four minutes before half-time.
Al Ahly continued to dominate after the break, with Omar El-Saiy having a goal ruled out for offside in the 57th minute.
Head coach Hussein Ammouta introduced Mohamed Abdallah and Hussein El Shahat in the 61st minute, replacing Zizo and Achraf Bencharki in an attempt to freshen up the attack.
Ammouta subsequently brought on Mahmoud Salah and Soufiane Benjdida for Mohamed Magdy Afsha and Mounsef Bakrar.
The substitutions quickly paid off as El-Saiy completed the scoring in the 78th minute with a strike from outside the penalty area.
