Ammouta: Al Ahly got the job done, we always play to win
Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta said his players showed fighting spirit from the outset to secure a 3-0 victory over El Sekka El Hadid and book their place in the last 16 of the Egypt Cup.
“Cup competitions often produce unexpected surprises, but the team achieved its main objective of winning and advancing to the next round,” Ammouta told the post-match press conference.
The coach explained that the technical staff selects the most suitable group of players for each match while ensuring everyone gets an opportunity.
“Around 26 players have featured over the recent period, which is a significant number,” Ammouta noted.
He also highlighted the challenges posed by injuries and other absences, adding that the upcoming international break would provide an opportunity to prepare the squad despite the absence of players called up for international duty.
Ammouta stressed that the coaching staff continues to prepare for every fixture with equal attention, particularly the upcoming match against Pyramids after the domestic competition resumes.
Al Ahly coach praised his team's strong character throughout recent matches, including games in which they failed to achieve their desired results.
“The players have consistently demonstrated determination and commitment, and everyone shares responsibility for the team's pursuit of victory,” he added.
Ammouta concluded by highlighting improvements across all areas of the team, saying the players had fulfilled the coaching staff's requirements in their efforts to achieve the team's objectives.
