Al Ahly defeated by Arab Contractors in Egyptian League Cup
Al Ahly suffered a 3-0 defeat to Arab Contractors in Tuesday's Egyptian League Cup match at Al Salam Stadium, part of the tournament's fourth round.
The game saw several young players given the opportunity to gain valuable experience, with the club opting to field a mix of emerging talent alongside regular first-team members.
Launched in the 2021-22 season, the Egyptian League Cup takes place during international breaks and features clubs from the Egyptian Premier League.
Modern Sport FC claimed the inaugural title, while Ceramica Cleopatra have won the trophy in each of the last three seasons.
This year’s competition includes 21 teams, split into three groups.
The top two teams from each group, plus the two best third-placed sides, will progress to the quarter-finals.
Al Ahly are in Group A, alongside Ceramica Cleopatra, Ghazl El Mahalla, Arab Contractors, Pharco FC, and Talae El Geish.
The Egyptian Premier League is currently on pause as the national team competes in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, from 21 December to 18 January, 2026.
