Al Ahly welcomes African Clubs Association chairman for cooperation talks

Al Ahly SC welcomed African Clubs Association chairman Hersi Said to its headquarters in Gezira on Thursday for talks on strengthening cooperation, developing African football and raising the standards of competitions and clubs to keep pace with global developments in the game.

Said was received by Al Ahly treasurer and African Clubs Association member Khaled Mortagy; board member in charge of football Sayed Abdelhafiz; executive director Khaled Morsi; director of regulations and licensing Hanan El Zeiny; and football sector legal adviser Dr Abdullah Shehata.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between the association and clubs across the continent, particularly through developing competitions, improving different aspects of the game and sharing expertise and successful experiences.

Mortagy also conveyed the greetings of Al Ahly president Mahmoud El Khatib to Said. Said thanked the club for its warm reception, saying the visit was part of ongoing efforts to develop African football, with the support of Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe and through coordination between CAF and the association.

He said he had chosen to begin his visits to African clubs with Al Ahly, describing the Egyptian side as one of the continent's most historic clubs, with a history spanning more than 120 years.

Said added that Al Ahly's experience could serve as a model for other African clubs seeking to develop their sporting and administrative structures.

He also praised the club's progress in football and its efforts to keep pace with global developments, highlighting its infrastructure as a source of pride for African football and an example of the professional standards clubs across the continent could aspire to achieve.

At the end of the visit, Mortagy presented Said with an Al Ahly commemorative plaque, the club's flag and a team jersey as a gesture of appreciation and to reaffirm the club's commitment to cooperation with African football institutions.
