Al Ahly get the job done against ZED FC: Ammouta

Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta said his team achieved its objective against ZED FC, securing three valuable points against a strong and highly competitive opponent.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ammouta said: “It was a tough and intense match against a strong opponent, but we put in a very good performance. We managed to keep a clean sheet and could have scored more goals. Things will improve further in the coming period as the players become more match-fit.”

The Red Eagles defeated ZED FC 2-0 on Friday in the second matchday of the Egyptian Premier League at Cairo International Stadium.

“Things improved considerably in the second half, and we created several chances. We will work on making better use of those opportunities in the matches ahead,” Ammouta added.

Al Ahly dominated the game from the outset and created several scoring opportunities, with Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki and Ahmed Sayed Zizo among those who came close to finding the net.

“The players put in a good performance, which is to be expected at the start of the season, particularly since we achieved our objective in this game. All the players have quality, especially Koka and Taher.

“Some players needed a rest after spending an extended period with the national team, so we have to rely on the entire squad until the rest of the players reach the required level of fitness and readiness.

“Al Ahly are competing for every title, and we need the contribution of every player. That is a very positive thing because it allows us to benefit from the entire squad. Renewing the contracts of several players is also a very important addition for the team.

“The number of mistakes will decrease as time goes on. There is a high level of focus within the team as we strive to achieve the best possible results and win titles.”

Al Ahly’s next fixture will be against Smouha in the third matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday.
