Yasser Ibrahim, Al Ahly’s defender, reflected on the team’s previous game against Mamelodi Sundowns and weighed in on our upcoming match in the CAF Super Cup against RS Berkane.

“We are now focused on the CAF Super Cup, which is an important trophy that we weren’t able to win since 2014. RS Berkane is a great team. We will analyze their strengths and weaknesses and hopefully, we will be able to win the title.”

“I would like to congratulate our fans and the entirety of Al Ahly’s coaching, administrative, and medical staff on the team’s qualification to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League.”

“All the players gave their maximum effort on the pitch and thank God we were able to qualify to the next round. We analyzed Sundowns very well and we knew that they are a strong team. We gave them the respect that they deserve and we were able to qualify to the semis.”

Ibrahim, who scored Al Ahly’s only goal in the team’s 1-1 draw in the second leg, revealed the secret behind his goal.

“We trained on this tactical set-piece and we practiced how to defend their crosses as well. Of course, defeating Sundowns 2-0 in the first leg gave us an advantage, but we still were fully aware of their abilities and concentrated on the second leg.”

“Of course having Al Ahly fans in the stands is beneficial for us. They played a great role in the previous FIFA Club World Cup. They created a great atmosphere in the tournament, especially in our games against Palmeiras and Bayern Munich. I hope that they’ll be able to attend the CAF Super Cup.”

Ibrahim concluded his interview by stating that the team turned the page on Mamelodi Sundowns’ game and that they want to please our fans by winning the CAF Super Cup.
