Match Report: Al Ahly 0 – 0 Pyramids FC

Al Ahly held a goalless draw against Pyramids FC in week 33 in the Egyptian Premier League at Cairo International Stadium and reached 86 points-tally at the top of the table.

Al Ahly started the game with frontline pressure to score the opening goal, as the players controlled the game and tried to create scoring chances.

Al Ahly missed the first scoring chance in the 6th minute as El Shahaat's shot was blocked by El Mahdy Soliman. Our winger Kahraba left the game in the 10th minute after suffering a hamstring injury led him to be substituted by Badji.

The ball went over Ali Lotfy's bar in the 14th minute after a strong header from Farouq, but he missed the net. The Red Eagles threatened the opponent's goal once again in the 29th minute after a strong shot from Diang, but it was blocked also by Soliman.

The game was tightened in the midfield, but in the 30th minute, the referee disallowed a goal for Pyramids after checking the VAR.

 The 35th minute witnessed El Soulia being sent off after a late challenge with Mahmoud Hamada. Al Ahly kept the pressure on the opponent despite playing with 10 players only.

In the 48th minute, Al Ahly had a penalty after Diang's shot was blocked by Pyramid's defender hand. Afsha failed to put the ball in the back of the net, as El Mahdy Soliman blocked it to end the first half in a goalless draw.

Our coach Pitso Mosimane made another substitute in the beginning of the second half as El Sheikh joined the game instead of Badji.

In the 55th minute, Pyramids threatened our game after Ibrahem Hassan's shot hit the bar, but the ball went out to keep the game as it was.

In the 74th minute, Diang kept his impressive performance, firing in a strong shot but it was also blocked by Soliman to keep his net clean. The Red Eagles kept their pressure, despite playing with 10 men in the field, and we missed another scoring chance in the 78th minute after a strong shot from Afsha, but it hit the bar.

Mosimane made two other substitutions again in the 81st minute as El Araby Badr joined the game instead of El Shahaat, while Shady Radwan made his debut after joining instead of Afsha.

The game was once again tightened in the midfield while it was going into the last minutes, as the referee added 4 minutes as stoppage time and then blew his final whistle to declare a goalless draw between Al Ahly and Pyramids.
