Trezeguet: Al Ahly’s international tournament a ‘golden opportunity’ for youth development

Al Ahly star Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet has praised the club's initiative to host an international friendly tournament for youth players this November.

With several top global clubs participating, Trezeguet highlighted that the event reflects Al Ahly’s ambitious strategy to strengthen its youth sector and develop future generations capable of continuing the club’s storied success.

Trezeguet stressed the tournament's importance for the youth development program, calling it a "golden opportunity" for young players to gain valuable experience and face teams with diverse playing styles.

"I started my career in Al Ahly's youth system, and I was promoted to the first team at an early age," Trezeguet said, reflecting on his own journey.

"That's why I'm always proud to be part of this club." He added, "For any young player dreaming of representing Al Ahly and showcasing their skills against international teams, participating in this tournament in Egypt is a dream come true."

Trezeguet also reminisced about his own experience in an international youth tournament in Austria at the age of 10.

"I played in that tournament at a young age, facing players from different football schools. It taught me a lot, both physically and tactically," Al Ahly winger said.

"I was named best player, and our team won the championship. That moment was a key turning point in my career. Experiences like these build a player’s confidence and prepare them for the future."

Trezeguet further pointed out that in Europe, young players are deeply immersed in football from an early age, with a different approach to training and development.

"The participation of top clubs like Barcelona, Palmeiras, and others in this tournament organized by Al Ahly is a priceless opportunity for our youth players. It’s their chance to express themselves and prove their abilities," he said.

The 28-year-old also stressed that the purpose of the tournament goes beyond competition.

"It’s about creating a generation that understands the significance of wearing the Al Ahly shirt and feels the responsibility that comes with representing this great club," Trezeguet explained.

He concluded by offering a message to Al Ahly’s youth players: "Believe in yourself, trust your dreams, and know you can compete with anyone in the world. Strong competition creates champions, and Al Ahly always plays to win - no matter the tournament or opponent. Give your best and live up to the values and legacy of this club."
