A Draw in Cairo

The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw against Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egyptian League on Saturday night at Arab Contractors Stadium.

We had a strong start to the game with our striker, Mohamed Sherif, missing a clear chance from inside the box as his header missed the target.

The opponents showed stern resilience at the back and stood their ground to stop all of our attacking line’s attempts to break the deadlock.

Mohamed Abdelmonem was injured and he was forced to leave the game. Being replaced by Yasser Ibrahim.

We had a chance to open the score through Mahmoud Wahid, minutes before halftime, but his shot went wide.

The first half ended in a goalless draw and the second half was another opportunity for Mosimane’s men to find their target.

Mosimane turned to his bench, introducing Percy Tau in place of Salah Mohsen and the South African was close from opening the score from his first touch but his shot missed the target.

Hamdy Fathy sent a strong shot but it missed the target.

Mosimane made three more changes to boost the attacking power as Hussein El Shahat, Mohamed Mahmoud and Karim Fouad joined the game instead of Taher Mohamed Taher, Mohamed Sherif and Mohamed Hany.

We conceded a late goal as Bassem Morsy gave Ceramica the lead in the game only three minutes before the final whistle but our players kept fighting to equalize the score.

The referee awarded the Red Eagles a penalty after checking the VAR and Mohamed Magdy Afsha managed to concert it, securing a draw for Mosimane’s men.

Our players will train on Sunday afternoon as the Red Eagles will start their preparations for the CAF Champions League semi-finals against ES Setif.
