Al Ahly Defeat Al Ittihad of Alexandria in the Egyptian Premier League
Al Ahly achieved an important 1-0 victory on Wednesday over Al Ittihad of Alexandria in the Egyptian Premier League at Al Ahly WE Al Salam Stadium.
Luis Miquissone gifted us three important points, thanks to his beautiful shot that guided us to an important three points.
First Half
The Red Eagles started the game with frontline pressure as we were keen to score an early opener.
Five minutes into the game, we tried to break the deadlock, but Al Ittihad’s defenders stood their ground and blocked our attempts.
In the 15th minute, we were awarded a penalty after the referee checked the VAR, as the ball touched the hand of Al Ittihad’s defender inside the box. However, we could not take the lead as Percy Tau’s shot hit the post.
Afterward, we kept pushing forward to score, but Al Ittihad’s defenders cleared all our chances away from their net.
Hussien El Shahat had another scoring chance as he fired a shot from the left flank, but Mohamed Abdelmonsef managed to block it away from his net.
In the 35th minute, Luis Miquissone broke the deadlock with a marvelous shot.
Our winger received the ball at the edge of the box and then curled it into the top corner to give us a 1-0 lead at the break.
Second Half
Pitso Mosimane used his bench at the start of the second half, as Amr El Soulia joined the game instead of Aliou Dieng.
In the 53rd minute, Al Ittihad scored the equalizer but the goal was disallowed due to an offside.
Seven minutes later, El Soulia sent a sensational long pass to Tau, who dribbled past the defender and shot the ball, but his efforts were blocked by the keeper.
In the 67th minute, Mosimane made another two substitutions as Mohamed Sherif and Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” joined the match instead of Luis Miquissone and Ahmed Abdelkader.
Al Ittihad kept pushing to equalize the score, but our defenders managed to block all their attempts away.
Mosimane used his bench once again, as Taher Mohamed Taher and Ali Maaloul entered the pitch instead of Hussien El Shahat and Mahmoud Wahid.
In the dying minutes of the game, Afsha was close to doubling the score but his efforts were blocked by the keeper before the referee blew his final whistle to declare a 1-0 victory for the Red Eagles.
