Al Ahly open CAF Champions League campaign against Burundi’s Aigle Noir

Record 12-time champions Al Ahly will begin their 2025–26 CAF Champions League campaign against Burundi’s Aigle Noir Makamba in the round of 32 next month.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has scheduled the first leg to take place in Burundi on 17, 18, or 19 October with the return leg in Cairo on 24, 25, or 26 October.

Aigle Noir advanced to the round of 32 on away goals after holding ASAS Djibouti Telecom to a 0-0 draw at home and drawing 1-1 away.

Al Ahly received a bye in the first preliminary round after finishing top of the CAF club rankings with 78 points.

The Cairo giants will be aiming to add to their record tally of 12 CAF Champions League titles as they seek to extend their dominance in African club football.
