Al Ahly warm up for league restart with two friendlies

Al Ahly football director Wael Gomaa said the first team will play two friendlies during the ongoing international break as part of their preparations for the next stage of the season, following their return to training on Sunday at Mokhtar El Tetsh Stadium.

Gomaa said Al Ahly will face Libyan side Al Ittihad Misurata SC on 28 September in their first friendly of the international break before taking on Maqassa on 2 October in their second warm-up match.

He explained that the technical staff had made adjustments to the team’s preparation programme after the Al Ahly vs. Asyut Petroleum match in the Egypt Capital Cup was brought forward by 24 hours. The match is now scheduled for 7 October.

The coaching staff are looking to make the most of the break through the two friendlies, using them to prepare the players and improve their technical and physical readiness ahead of the resumption of competitive action.
