Al Ahly’s Marei sidelined with muscle strain

Al Ahly defender Yassine Marei has been ruled out of the upcoming Egyptian Premier League clash against Ghazl El Mahalla after sustaining a muscle strain.

“Medical scans have revealed that Marei is suffering from a strain in a posterior thigh muscle,” said Al Ahly’s doctor Ahmed Gaballah.

“Marei will undergo a recovery and rehabilitation programme in order to be fit for a return to training,” Gaballah added.

The 23-year-old delivered an impressive performance in the Egyptian Premier League opener against Modern Sport, earning the Man of the Match award after scoring in the draw.

Al Ahly are set to face Ghazl El Mahalla in the fourth round of the league on Monday, 25 August.

The Red Eagles opened their domestic campaign with a draw against Modern Sport before bouncing back with a 4-1 victory over Pharco FC in the second round.
