Al Ahly striker Mohamed Sherif has been diagnosed with a second-degree groin strain following a medical scan, the first-team doctor, Ahmed Gaballah, said on Monday.
Gaballah revealed that Sherif will begin a treatment and rehabilitation programme in the coming days, with his return to full training dependent on his recovery.
The 29-year-old forward picked up the injury during Al Ahly’s 1-0 away win against Burundi’s Aigle Noir in the first leg of the CAF Champions League round of 32.
He was substituted during the match as a precaution to avoid worsening the injury.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly resumed training on Monday evening at El-Tetsh Stadium as the squad prepares to face Al Ittihad of Alexandria in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday.
