Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy has been ruled out of Saturday’s CAF Champions League second-leg match against Burundi’s Aigle Noir due to severe fatigue and flu, the club’s football director Walid Salah Eldin said on Friday.
Salah Eldin added that the coaching staff decided to rest the team captain to allow him to recover fully and return for upcoming fixtures.
Al Ahly will host Aigle Noir at Cairo International Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. local time (1700 GMT).
The Egyptian champions hold a 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Bujumbura, where Aigle Noir defender Nicolas Iragi scored an own goal.
