Sami Komsan, Al Ahly’s assistant coach, spoke about our next game against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

“We are motivated a lot by the presence of Al Ahly’s president Mahmoud El Khatib with us. He gives all the players and the coaching staff great support.”

“President El Khatib was keen to speak with the players and the coaching staff. He told us that the current team can accomplish a lot of achievements and that we must be fully focused on the upcoming game before thinking about the next step.”

“We started our preparations for the second leg following our 2-0 victory over Sundowns in Cairo. Also, the coaching staff stressed to the players that we only won the first half, and we still have 90 minutes to play.”

“Al Ahly is a great club. We are the treble champions, as we won the CAF Champions League title, the Egyptian League title, the Egyptian Cup title, and also secured the bronze medal of the FIFA Club World Cup.”

“We have a great challenge in front of us. Mosimane has worked previously with the coaching staff of Mamelodi Sundowns, and both of them know what the other is thinking of.”

“Sundowns are a big team and have a lot of good players, but we outclassed the South African team in the previous games, regardless of the only defeat that we conceded which does not recur with a big club like Al Ahly.”

“I hope that all the players will be fully focused in Saturday’s game, and I wish to achieve a good result to secure our qualification to the semi-finals.”

“All the players had the chance to play during the previous period, including the youth players, which is a good thing. Everyone appreciates the responsibility that falls on their shoulders, and they have proven that they are up to the task.”

“Al Ahly fans are our greatest supporters. There were many opinions and doubts in the team during the past period, but our fans are fully aware of these things. We are doing all our best to please our fans and to win more trophies.”

“Finally, Al Ahly is the only team that represents Egypt in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals, so we need our fans' support to keep moving forward during this important stage.”
