Match Report: Al Ahly 0-0 El Gaish
Al Ahly’s football first team was held to a goalless draw against Tala’ea El Gaish SC in the 16th fixture of the Egyptian Premier League at Al Ahly WE Al Salam Stadium on Wednesday.
With that result, Al Ahly currently sit in second place with two games in hand and a total of 32 points; whereas, Tala’ea El Gaish are in eleventh place with 19 points.
The First Half
The first fifteen minutes started with both teams trying to create goal-scoring opportunities in order to break the deadlock. \
After only ten minutes into the game, Amr El Soulia was replaced by Hamdy Fathy after feeling pain in his leg.
In the 20th minute of the encounter, the Reds were awarded a free kick on the right side of the opponent’s box.
Ali Maaloul sent a perfect cross in the opponent’s box which found Hamdy Fathy’s head but the ball was saved by Mohamed Bassam, El Gaish’s goalkeeper. Hossam Hassan was there for the follow-up but his header went over the bar.
Three minutes later, Percy Tau went one on one with Bassam; however, he was unable to find the net after passing by El Gaish’s goalkeeper.
The Red Eagles kept pushing to score the opener through Percy Tau, Hossam Hassan, and Ali Maaloul, but were met by the opponent’s strong defense.
In the final minutes of the first half, the Eagles had more than one opportunity to score the opener through corner kicks but weren’t able to break the deadlock.
The Second Half
In the first 25 minutes of the second half, we had two clear chances but we were unable to convert both of them.
Hussein El Shahat passed the ball inside of the opponent’s box to Hamdy Fathy, who shot the ball in the middle of the goal for Bassam to save it.

In the 69th minute of the game, Yasser Ibrahim, Hossam Hassan, and Percy Tau made way for Salah Mohsen, Mohamed Sherif, and Taher Mohamed Taher.
After only three minutes, Sherif and Salah Mohsen made their first appearance in the game.
Maaloul received the ball from Sherif on the left side and then sent a ground cross to Mohsen. However, Mohsen shot it from the first touch on target. However, Bassam pulled a brilliant save to keep the score level.
In the 81st minute of the game, Luis Miqquisone entered instead of Hussein El Shahat.
The final minutes of the game went by with no change in the result, as both teams failed to convert the chances that they received.
