A Goalless Draw in Suez

Al Ahly were held to a goalless draw on Tuesday against Talae’a El Gaish at the Army Stadium in Suez in Matchday 31 of the Egyptian Premier League.

All our attempts to score across the 90 minutes were blocked by El Gaish’s defenders and goalkeeper.  

We were denied a clear goal after the ball crossed the goal line but the referee did not allow the goal.

First Half

The first half kicked off with a neck-break pace, and our players kept pushing for an early goal.

We had the possession and controlled the game’s tempo but our players faced tough tackles from the opponents.

In the 13th minute, Dieng passed the ball to El Shahat on the right flank. El Shahat then fired a strong shot, but the ball went to a goal kick.

Seven minutes later, we missed another dangerous scoring chance. Kahraba passed the ball to El Shahat on the left flank. El Shahat passed the ball to Ali Maaloul who delivered a ground cross, which just needed a touch to find the back of the net but our players failed to reach it.

In the 24th minute, Afsha was awarded a foul due to a late challenge from El Gaish’s Hesham Gamal, who received a yellow card.

Three minutes later, Hamdy Fathy received a yellow card after a late challenge against Amr Gamal.

With 38th minutes on the clock, we were denied a clear goal. El Shahat delivered a cross from the left flank to Yasser Ibrahim, who blasted a strong header towards the net. The opponent’s defender cleared the ball after crossing the goal line. The ball rebounded to Hamdy Fathy but his header went over the bar.

In the 45th minute, El Shenawy was needed as Ahmed Samir sent a cross from the left side, but our goalkeeper deflected the ball away before it reaches Amr Gamal.

Second Half

The second half kicked off with frontline pressure from the Red Eagles, as we were searching to break the deadlock.

Mosimane made two substitutions at half-time, as Taher Mohamed Taher and Ramy Rabia joined the game instead of Kahraba and Ayman Ashraf.

With 54 minutes on the clock, we missed another scoring chance.  El Shahat dribbled past two players and sent a brilliant cross, but the ball was cleared away by El Gaish’s defenders to keep their net clean.

In the 63rd minute, Mosimane made another substitution, as Salah Mohsen joined the game instead of Walter Bwalya.

El Gaish’s goalkeeper, Mohamed Bassam, saved his net, as he blocked Ajayi’s header to keep the goalless draw.

We kept sending crosses and they were all stopped at El Gaish’s defensive wall.

Once again, El Gaish’s goalkeeper made another save, as he blocked Salah Mohsen’s header to keep his net clean.

The Red Eagles kept pushing forward to achieve the victory, but once again, El Gaish’s defenders stood their ground, and then the referee declared a 0-0 draw at the Army Stadium in Suez.
