Al Ahly Lose to Palmeiras in FIFA Club World Cup Semis

Al Ahly's football first team lost to Palmeiras of Brazil 2-0 on Tuesday in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals at Al Nahyan Stadium.

The Brazilian team took the lead in the 39th minute by Rapahel Veiga, who scored their opening goal before the break.

The second half started with the Red Eagles pushing forward to equalize the score, but against the game’s flow, Dudu managed to double the score in the 49th minute for Palmeiras.

Pitso Mosimane, our head coach, made several substitutions to add more attacking power to the team, as Ahmed Abdelkader, Mohamed Sherif, and Hamdy Fathy joined the game instead of Amr El Soulia, Hussien El Shahat, and Ramy Rabia.

In the 55th minute, Abdelkader dribbled past the defenders and was tackled inside the opponent’s box, but the referee did not reward us a penalty.

In the 72nd minute, Sherif scored our first goal in the game. Abdelkader fired a strong shot, but the goalkeeper blocked it.

Sherif was in the right place to collect the rebound and converted the ball into the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out due to offside.

The Red Eagles kept pushing and we had another scoring chance in the last 10 minutes, as Walid Soliman, who joined the pitch instead of Taher Mohamed Taher, blasted a strong header, but the ball hits the bar.

The final minutes went on, and we tried to score, but Palmeiras defenders stood their ground and managed to block all our attempts.
