Al Ahly held to 1-1 draw against Enppi in Egyptian Premier League

Al Ahly were held to a 1-1 draw by Enppi in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League at the Arab Contractors Stadium on Sunday.

The Red Eagles began with high intensity, pressing Enppi's defence early but failing to create clear chances.

Striker Mohamed Sherif missed two opportunities in the opening 15 minutes. Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan was lively on the left flank, though his early efforts lacked end product.

His persistence paid off in the 34th minute when he broke the deadlock with a powerful header, connecting with a wide cross from right-back Mohamed Hani.

Interim coach Emad El-Nahhas was forced to make an early substitution, bringing on Taher Mohamed Taher in the 27th minute for winger Ahmed ‘Zizo’ Sayed, who signaled to the bench after suffering from muscle discomfort.

Just three minutes after the opening goal, Sherif unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box, forcing Enppi goalkeeper Abdelrahman Samir into a save that resulted in a corner.

The match was briefly halted at the end of the first half after Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy was shown a red card for a challenge on Enppi midfielder Ahmed Ismail.

However, a VAR review overturned the decision, reducing it to a yellow card. Ahly resumed the second half with similar intent. In the 48th minute, Trezeguet fired a shot from inside the area, but ENPPI’s packed defence blocked it.

Two minutes later, a corner from Taher found Trezeguet again, but his header went just wide of the left post.

Enppi were awarded a penalty in the 65th minute after Alio Dieng was penalised for a foul inside the area.

Ahmed El Agouz stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to level the score. Looking to reclaim the lead, El-Nahhas introduced Achraf Bencharki and Nejc Gradisar for Dieng and Sherif.

Bencharki made an immediate impact, displaying impressive ball control before curling a shot narrowly past the right post.

Enppi came close to snatching the lead in the 72nd minute when Ahmed Sabeha’s header was saved by El-Shenawy.

The rebound fell to Ahmed Zaki, whose follow-up header drifted just wide of the post.

Three minutes later, Al Ahly midfielder Marwan Attia tested Samir with a powerful effort from distance, but the Enppi goalkeeper tipped it over for a corner.

El Nahas made his final changes late on, bringing on Emam Ashour and Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdi in a bid to find a late winner, but Enppi held firm defensively.

Ahly remain on six points after five games.
