Ammouta hails Al Ahly’s performance after 4-0 win over Kitara
Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta praised his side’s performance against Uganda’s Kitara FC in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup Round of 32, as the Red Eagles secured a place in the group stage with a commanding 4-0 victory at Cairo International Stadium.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ammouta said Al Ahly delivered a strong performance despite taking time to break the deadlock, adding that the team managed to take control of the game after scoring the opening goal.
“Every match has its own circumstances, and we prepare for each encounter both mentally and physically. Today, we were in excellent condition, unlike our previous match, in which we made several mistakes, particularly in defence,” Ammouta said.
“We worked on correcting those weaknesses, and that was evident in today’s performance.”
Al Ahly coach also revealed that Ashraf Dari felt some fatigue, prompting the technical staff to rest him and bring on Yassin Marei in the second half as a precaution.
Ammouta concluded by explaining that the coaching staff had opted to rest some players while giving others the opportunity to regain match fitness.
Ahmed Nabil Koka featured after recovering from injury, while Ahmed Eid and Mohamed Abdallah were also given playing time.
