Volleyball: Women’s African Clubs Championship draw set for Sunday
The Supreme Organising Committee for the Women’s African Clubs Volleyball Championship, headed by Al Ahly board member Mohamed El Ghazawy and vice chairman Ahmed Hossam Awad, said the tournament draw will take place on Sunday, 12 April.
Al Ahly will host the continental competition from 11 to 24 April, with 23 teams to participate.
The draw ceremony is set to be attended by Beshri Hegazy, president of the African Volleyball Confederation, and Yasser Qamar, president of the Egyptian Volleyball Federation, along with delegates representing the participating clubs.
The organising committee held a meeting in recent hours to review logistical and administrative preparations for the event, including arrangements for receiving participating teams and delegations, accommodation in designated hotels, and transport schedules to and from match venues.
A comprehensive security plan was also discussed, covering both indoor arenas and the club’s surrounding areas, in coordination with relevant authorities.
Organisers also reviewed plans for the opening ceremony, aiming to showcase the identity of the continental event and underline Al Ahly’s status as one of Africa’s leading clubs.
