The draw for the 29th Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA) was held on Thursday at Al Ahly’s Gezira headquarters as the club gears up to host the tournament from 4 to 15 December.
The ceremony, held in the Fikry Abaza Hall, was attended by board member Mohamed El Garhy, who heads the tournament’s organising committee; Khaled El Awady, director of sports activities; Hesham El Hariri, president of FIBA Africa’s Zone 5; and Mostafa Fawzy, a board member of the Egyptian Basketball Federation.
The draw split the 12 participants into three groups as follows:
Group A:
- Al Alhy (EGY - hosts)
- Friend’s Basketball Association (CIV)
- Sporting Clube Luanda (ANG)
- REG BBC (RWA)
Group B:
- Ferroviario Maputo (MOZ)
- F.A.P (CMR)
- K.P.A (KEN)
- FirstBank (NGR)
Group C:
- A.P.R (RWA)
- Bravehearts BBC (MLW)
- C.N.S.S (DR CONGO)
- AS Ville de Dakar (SEN)
