Miquissone: I Am Glad to be Part of This Big Club

Alahly, Luís Miquissone, Football

Luís Miquissone, our new signing, was very happy after wearing Al Ahly’s jersey for the first time at El Tetsh Stadium.

We caught up with our Mozambican winger on his feelings after signing for the Red Eagles, his ambitions, and his relationship with our coach Pitso Mosimane.

“I am so happy to be here. It is a very good feeling to represent a big club like Al Ahly. It is a great experience for me. It is the biggest club in Africa and I am so glad to be here and to be part of this club.”
His Knowledge of Al Ahly

“I know Mohamed Aboutrika, he is a big legend here at Al Ahly. When I was young, I used to watch him playing with Egypt national team.”

“I watched the last CAF Champions League final when Al Ahly faced Kaizer Chiefs. It was a good game. As a player, I need to be part of these big events. It is very nice to be winning and to witness things like that.”

“Al Ahly have a lot of great players. They won the champions league twice in a row. I know several players in the squad who can make difference. I played against them and I know how good they are.”

Facing Al Ahly in CAF Champions League

“It is a great feeling to face big teams like Al Ahly. At that time, I was representing Simba and I was keen to do my best on the pitch. When you face a big team like Al Ahly, you need to give all your best to show that you are a good player and you deserve to play on a big stage.”

Relationship with Mosimane

“The relationship between me and coach Pitso is amazing. When I was a player in Simba, I faced Al Ahly and it was great to see him."

“I spoke about him in a previous interview and I said that he was the coach who helped me reach my peak and grow up as a footballer.”

"My experience with him in Mamelodi Sundowns was so good; he made me be a good player and be better. He made me know more about football, as football is not just to get good things, but you need also to learn about bad things."

Miquissone’s Career

“I started my career very early. I started playing football in school. I became a professional player in 2013 with UD Songo in Mozambique. I played there for five years and then moved to South Africa. I stayed in South Africa for three years, and from there I moved back to UD Songo and stayed in Mozambique for one year. After that, I joined Tanzania’s Simba and now I am here at Al Ahly.”

“I got a little bit of experience in South Africa and Tanzania and this is my third time to play outside Mozambique. I think it is good for me to play here. It is a good team and they have a good philosophy that suits me.”

“My adaptation in South Africa was not good. I was young when I left my home. So it was difficult for me to adapt to a different country with a different language.”

“It was so good to join Mamelodi Sundowns. They received me very nice and at that time, the team’s coach was Pitso Mosimane. They loaned me for one year and I accepted the decision because I needed to gain experience.”

“The decision to leave South Africa was very difficult, but I took it to get more playing time. In football, you need to play to reach your top level. Also, I needed to have another challenge."

His Ambitions

“I received a lot of offers during the previous period. I spoke with my agent and we decided to come to Al Ahly. The club is so big and their ambitions have no limits. I want to help the team win trophies. As a player, I also need to be part of this and to get my chance to help the team.”

“I need to grow up and to face big challenges, so that is why I chose Al Ahly. They need to win everything and I need to be part of this.”

“Any player dreams of playing in the FIFA Club World Cup. It will be a great experience for me.”

Message to Al Ahly Fans

“My message to Al Ahly fans is that I am now part of Al Ahly’s family and I will work hard and I will do my best to help the team and to make them happy.”
